Realtek ALC882D

Realtek ALC882D, Asus P5WD2-Prem. Downloaded beta driver from Realtek, installed ok. Did anyone get it to work???

I extracted the 5127 version from the ASUS site(5 parts) which I was using on the XP partition. Ran the part 1 exe, after expanding all 5 parts to a single directory, which deposited a gaggle of files in a C: Realtek directory. I then went to the system level and expanded the sound devices and chose to update driver from a specific location. Choosing the realtek directory, I selected: C:\<yourpathhere>\realtek\wdm\hdxrt.inf (process of elimination, hdart.inf failed) this completed installation, but I got no sound, played with some stuff, still nothing, gave up. Computer went into a deep sleep and when I awoke it several hours later, BLARING SOUND, need to turn down the volume.
I had no luck getting the VISTA beta driver from the realtek site to install. Figured what the *I**, I will try the package from ASUS, and now I have sound. Can't vouch for the quality as I have not really played with it, but at least I can hear.

Ok, now that my posts work, I will retype everything MS just threw away. I had absolutely no success with the beta drivers from Realtek, could not even get them to completely install.
I had earlier pulled the 5127 version from ASUS, for installation on my XP side of my dual boot, so I went ahead and tried that. Execution of the Part1.exe file deposited a group of files on C:\realtek..... . I then went to the system(classic view) and chose sound devices, and then update driver from specific location.
Tried to update to ...\...51005127-part1\realtek\wdm\hdart.inf { no success } Tried to update to ...\...51005127-part1\realtek\wdm\hdxrt.inf { update success }
Smiles all around, but still got no sound. grrrr. Played with volume levels, nothing. Went about life for a few hours, came back and woke up the machine from "sleep", and HELLLO SOUND!!!, had the volume up just a tad to high.
Anyway seems to be working fine.

I didnt get it install. But might be due i have x64 version vista. We need to wait a bit. Realtek has been quite active about vista beta drivers, so i think there will be new drivers soon.
